Chad Bridges is the judge of the 458th District Court, a general jurisdiction court located in Fort Bend County, Texas. Previously, Judge Bridges was appointed (and subsequently elected) judge of the 240th District Court. Judge Bridges is Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
Judge Bridges began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County handling post-conviction death penalty litigation. After his assignment in the Appellate Division ended, Chad transferred to the Trial Bureau and prosecuted misdemeanor and felony cases, including an assignment in the Family Criminal Law Division. Chad then became the First Assistant District Attorney for the Waller County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. During his tenure in Waller County, he created a Family Violence Division for the District Attorney’s Office and a narcotics taskforce for regional law enforcement agencies. In 2000, Chad left the criminal law arena to become Legal Counsel for Computer Sciences Corporation. However, the call to public service led him back to representing the people of the State of Texas. Judge Bridges joined the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s office in 2003 as Chief Prosecutor of the Family Violence Division. As a Chief Prosecutor, Chad served as president and later as a director of the Fort Bend County Crime Victim’s Response Team (CVRT). In 2011, Chad received the Carol Rees Award from CVRT for outstanding service to crime victims.
In furtherance of his commitment to public service, Chad Bridges has presented as a lecturer for the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association (TDCAA) and has acted as a faculty advisor for TDCAA’s Prosecutor Trial Skills Course and TDCAA’s Advanced Trial Skills Course. Judge Bridges has trained volunteers for the Fort Bend County Women’s Center as well as cadets at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy. Also while a prosecutor, Judge Bridges was a member of the Fort Bend Human Trafficking Task Force. Judge Bridges has been published in the Texas Center for the Judiciary’s “In Chambers” journal and taught judges at Texas Council on Family Violence’s 2019 Judicial Summit.
Chad and his wife of 26 years, Claudia, met in law school. They have two children, Matt and Lauren.
