Kristin Guiney is the presiding judge of the 183rd Criminal District Court. Since first being elected in 2012, she has continually received the highest ratings in yearly bar polls and in judicial preference polls.
Kristin is a lifelong resident of Harris County. With a personal stake in the safety of our community, Kristin ran for judge because she firmly believed that the justice system should be guided by the rule of law and fairness.
Kristin has the experience to ensure that the justice system works to give our community and its citizens justice. Kristin spent nine years at the Harris County District Attorney’s office prosecuting virtually every type of crime that occurs in Harris County, including DWIs, sexual assaults of children, and capital murders.
Kristin is an alumna of Emory University in Atlanta and received her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She grew up in Friendswood and now lives in the Memorial area with her husband, Ed McClees, and their two beautiful daughters.
During her 22- year criminal justice career, Kristin has tried over 90 cases to verdict as lead counsel and she is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Criminal Law.
